FedEx Express, a subsidiary of FedEx Corp, the world’s largest express transportation company, has opened a new facility in Carrickfergus, Co. Antrim, improving connectivity for firms in Northern Ireland doing business with foreign markets and creating employment for 52 people.
Dublin-based PR agency Cullen Communications handled PR for the launch, which took place at Belfast International and which was attended by Arlene Foster, MLA and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Investment.
The FedEx investment consists of a domestic ground delivery service within Northern Ireland and a global service using a daily flight from Belfast International. The new service will accelerate delivery times to many parts of the globe including North America and Asia, enhancing the competitiveness of firms doing business with these markets.
“Northern Ireland’s future economic prosperity hinges on reaching beyond neighbouring economies, such as the UK and Ireland, towards high-potential emerging and established markets globally,” said Gerald P. Leary, President, FedEx Express Europe, Middle East, Indian Subcontinent & Africa.
